Welcome to this week’s edition of Tips and Clips. If you missed last week’s edition, you can read about it here. To recap, this is meant to be a compilation of “tips” or “clips” about sewing, fabric, sales, or articles I’ve stumbled upon that I found interesting and hope you’ll find useful as well.
1. I’ve yet to make a quilt yet because I feel intimidated getting the mitered corners looking presentable. I saw this tutorial recently that makes it look so easy to have the backing become the binding and it also takes care of the the mitered corner.
2. Speaking of bias binding, here is a great tutorial on how to make continuous bias binding using a rectangle of fabric.
3. If you are interested in drawing designs to make custom buttons, check out this tutorial on how to do this using shrink plastic. The buttons are washable too!
4. If you’ve ever wanted to cut perfect circles, check out this post from the Scientific Seamstress that has a free template download you can use to cut circles from 1″ up to 58″.
That’s it for this week’s edition. Happy “mad” sewing!
