Welcome to a new series I dub Tips and Clips. What is this you ask? This is meant to be a short list of “tips” or “clips” about sewing, fabric, or articles I’ve stumbled upon that I found interesting and I hope you’ll find useful as well. So without further ado, here is this week’s tips and clips.
1. Did you know the new Liberty London Autumn/Winter 2015 Synchronicity collection was released on July 1st? Check out the collection on the Liberty website. I love the Emerald Bay and Peacocks of Grantham Hall prints so it’s going on my ( very long ) wish list =) Duckadilly and Alice Caroline both carry the new collection. Jones & Vandermeer also offers a limited selection of the new line. You can check out the links to their online shops in my Liberty fabric source guide.
2. If you find Liberty London fabric a bit too pricey for your taste, check out other cotton lawn options in my Cotton Lawn and Voile Source Guide. Robert Kaufman recently came out with a new London Calling collection. Art Gallery fabrics have also added more prints available in cotton voile.
3. Featured in Sewing Craft Gossip, this is a hilarious post by Melly Sews titled 9 Things Sewists Do That No One Understands. The list is so true…
4. I’ve always sewn my darts in a straight line but I recently saw this article from Maria Denmark about a better way to sew darts. I think I’ll try out this out next time I need to sew darts.
5. Finally, I saw article from Sew Can She about the cost of a handmade item. Very interesting and makes me reflect on the value of my time in making things for others.
A very special thanks to Mae Kwan for creating this lovely Tips and Clips logo as well as my blog logo! Check out her site to see more of her designs.
That’s it for this week’s edition. Happy “mad” sewing!
