Scrappy Fussy Cut Heart Mug Rug

Share this on:

I’ve been wanting to make a Christmas mug rug but the Cotton and Steel Tinsel 2″ strips I had weren’t big enough to fit my fussy cut heart mug rug pattern. In an aha moment I realized I could just sew the strips together to make it the size I needed. Here I blended in a teal dot fabric and 2 different neutral prints. I used the green ornament print to increase the size of the center piece too. This is such a great way to use up small scraps and add more variety of prints to your mug rug. I love how this turned out! You can see the other mug rugs I made using this pattern here and here.

I used my scraps for the back too. The sewing on the binding is still a bit wonky but practice makes perfect right?

  1. That is very cute! I tend to use my scraps in quilts for charity and some small projects too. Thanks for linking up to #scraptastictuesday

  2. This is so cute, this is what I should do with scraps, instead I make a few things now and again but mostly keep them in a big box at the bottom of the wardrobe!
